01 Mar When Cala Comte is quiet
The area around Cala Comte is an extremely beautiful part of Ibiza. With her many bays and caves it is no coincidence that Cala Comte is highly visited by tourists in summer. However, in winter, when tourist are gone and silence steps back on the throne, Cala Comte shows her beauty like never before.
I prepared a good hike to go from Cala Comte to Cala Bassa and then all the way back via Cala Codolar to Cala Comte again. It was promising to be a very nice circular hike covering the whole area and coast around this highly sought after place. Upon arriving I noticed the serenity of this place in this time of the year. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice in summer too, but now it had something different to it. The water was flat, there was hardly any wind and the sea was crystal clear. There was no noise, no music. Only the gently sound of a very light breeze and the singing of birds. Oh yes, and the sudden howl of Raf every now and then. Raf was so happy to go out for a hike again that he kept doing his howl and was running circles while wagging his tail. Yes, he can do three things at a time. That’s two more than me. But his happiness was more than appropriate as the next 3.5 hours we where enjoying a good hike with only the three of us in a place that rarely leaves anybody alone. Wow!
