Where One More Hike stands out
Outdoor communities are the core model
Profiles include outdoor interests, goals, location, and preferred distance units. Events can be categorized as hikes, water sports, camping, stargazing, or another activity. Discovery and community pages use that outdoor context instead of treating every gathering as a generic event.
Roadmap
One More Hike is in it's early stages, currently offering the bare minimum functionality as we build out the full scale of user experience. Unlike luma, we are not trying to be just an event management platform, but a social community hub for outdoor enthusiasts. Features in the pipeline include:
- Social profiles connecting current activity tracking apps (strava, alltrails, garmin)
- Ability to discover and follow other outdoor enthusiasts all around the globe
- Create, Promote, Lead, Sell outdoor trips
- Plan, and seek advice on your outdoor trips from the larger community
- Share itinerary with friends and loved ones
Community operations are included
Every account starts with a personal community, and hosts can create shared communities with multiple administrators. Communities can run a public calendar, accept event submissions, manage members, offer membership tiers, restrict tickets to members, and publish an embeddable calendar.
Hosting focuses on the practical trip workflow
Hosts can collect attendee details, manage guests and waitlists, set capacities, create free or paid tickets, add promo codes, ask registration questions, and assign cohosts. Events can be moved between communities when a host administers both destinations.
Payments stay with the community
Each community connects its own standard Stripe account. Ticket revenue is paid directly to that account, while One More Hike collects its platform fee. If Stripe is disconnected, paid tickets are automatically disabled so an event cannot continue selling without a valid payout destination.
Where Luma currently goes further
Audience communication
Luma can send and schedule event blasts to groups selected by registration status or ticket type. Delivery can include email, SMS, and push notifications according to each guest's preferences. One More Hike currently provides transactional registration and event emails, but not a comparable broadcast composer.
Paid waitlist flow
Luma supports deferred payment for paid waitlists: a guest authorizes a payment method when joining and is charged only after approval. One More Hike supports event waitlists, but does not yet offer this preauthorization workflow.
Consumer applications and passes
Luma provides native mobile applications and supports Apple Wallet and Google Wallet event passes. One More Hike is presently a responsive web application with QR tickets and calendar files.
Broader discovery network
Luma has city and category discovery, calendar following, personalized feeds, and map browsing across a large general-purpose event network. One More Hike's discovery is intentionally narrower and oriented toward outdoor activities and local communities.
